It owes its name to a pine forest that stood in the place where the market. The term "Pignasecca" builds, in particular, to an old folk belief: it is said, in fact, that a Neapolitan bishop did post on the trunk of a pine bull of excommunication, and, when the sheet was supported the tree, this you blow dry.

Reaching us is very simple, with the underground hill to Piazza Dante and then walk a few steps away to via Toledo or the funicular railway that leads to Montesanto practically at the Pignasecca. A Montesanto you will find the station Circumflegrea (Cumana) and metro station Montesanto.
